Amigo Loans Mis-Selling
Amigo loans have been at the heart of the recent mis-selling scandal, due to the large numbers of unaffordable loans they approved over many years. Hundreds of millions of pounds have been reclaimed by past customers. As a result, Amigo is trying to introduce what is known as a Scheme Of Arrangement. This is when a company tries to get approval to pay creditors (in this case previouse customers who were mis-sold to) a portion of what is owed to them. The reason they do this is that they claim not to be able to afford to pay out the full amount, and so a scheme could be better than bankruptcy for previous customers if an appropriate scheme is proposed.
Amigo's first attempt to introduce a scheme failed. Even though it was voted for by past customers, The courts blocked it after the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) objected to the scheme. The reason for this is that the scheme was not seen as generous enough, and shareholders were not contributing as much as they should.
Amigo is making a second attempt at getting a scheme approved, which includes more of a contribution from shareholders as well as raising equity. If this is not approved then Amigo will propose to wind down the company.

Why Could I Receive An Amigo Loans Refund?
There are various reasons why you may be due a refund from a lender. The main reason for a claim is that the loan was unaffordable. These are general signs that the lender did not perform sufficient affordability checks:
The amount borrowed increased loan by loan without reassessing your situation
The loan was extended each month without reassessing your situation
You were struggling to pay essentials (rent, bills, food) because of my repayments
You had to borrow money from another lender to pay back a loan or cover essentials
Your income changed between taking out and repaying the loan but the lender didn’t check
The lender didn’t ask you any questions to confirm that I would be able to repay the loan in a sustainable way
You rolled over your loans
Even if during your application process, you did not mentioned all of your debts or stated your correct regular income. Amigo Loans should have checked your credit record and ensured you had a regular, consistent income before giving you a loan.
If any of the above statements describe your experience with Amigo Loans, you could be eligible to claim compensation. Start your claim below for professionals to guide you through the process.
